Singapore Motor Vehicle Population Dashboard

About the Project

A common problem in Singapore today is the overwhelming number of vehicles on our roads which could lead to detrimental impacts on the environment. I stumbled upon this publicly available dataset by the Land Transport Authority on the data.gov website and was interested to analyze the data further through creating a dashboard on Google Data Studio.

Insights

As can be seen from 2005, it appears that the number of vehicles had been increasing from 2005 - 2013. However, it appears in recent years from 2014 - 2020 that the number has been stabilising.

Additionally, we can see that the breakdown of vehicle categories remain roughly consistent from 2005 - 2020. Cars and Station-wagons dominate the population contributing to roughly 60-65% of the total population.
